Why take up Yoga? 

Yoga is a powerful tool for change - it is a journey, not a destination.
The style of yoga that I teach has been developed by an osteopath and works naturally with the body.

I have been teaching Yoga since 1997 and am a Diploma Holder of the British Wheel of Yoga. My classes are mixed ability and suitable for all levels.

Some of the main aims of this yoga practice are:

  • To bring the muscular skeletal system into balance.
  • To integrate the mind and body.
  • To adapt the poses so that they are useful to the individual.
  • To create space in joints rather than compression.
  • To focus on breathing and releasing tension through grounding.
  • To reduce stress.
  • To use minimum effort as effort creates tension which in turn creates restriction.
  • To pay attention and work with full awareness.
  • To inhabit your body.
  • To learn to relax.
  • To have fun!

If all these points are properly considered, stretching then becomes a consequence not an aim.
